Northern Druid Podcast Airs Oct. 18!

Published by Scott under News

Northern Druid PodcastThe premier episode of the Northern Druid Podcast will be posted on Sunday evening, October 18. Look for it after 9pm Central Time!

Apart from introductions to the podcast, this is the time of the New Moon in the northern hemisphere. Hence, I will be reviewing the book, New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True, by Jan Spiller.

Look for music by Robi Meyerson and Kathy McTavish to compliment the podcast. I’ll share upcoming announcements of happenings on the North Shore, the upcoming Samhain Labyrinth Activation, and a meditation on making wishes upon the New Moon.

Samhain-LadySamhain (pronounced SOW-en) is the Celtic/Pagan holiday that is celebrated on October 31st each year. It is the historical root of our modern-day Hallowe’en tradition, as well as the Nov. 1 Christian holiday of “All Souls Day”, “The Day of the Dead”, and other similar holidays.

On this “Day Between” – the veils between the spirit realm and the waking realm are very thin. The Sidhe, faerie folk, spirits of Nature, gnomes, and spirits of the departed run amok on the land! Traditionally, fires were lit in the Celtic lands on Samhain, so that departed spirits for the year could “find their way” to the resting places within the spirit realm. Offerings of food, acorns, seeds, and unharvested crops were left for those spirits crossing the land on the evening of Samhain.

Samhain is the day before the new year. It is a time for pre-cognition, pre-cipitation, and the pre-conception of newness and intentions for the coming year, as we delve into darkness before Winter Solstice and Yule.

In this guided meditation, we will walk through Labyrinths of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water – leaving our offerings and wishes for the new year. Guided by Ceridwen, the Maid-Mother-Crone who presides over Samhain, we will travel the land in our own journeys of pre-conception, as we find our way – guided by the fires in the inner realm.

Traveler – What do you seek?
Go into the Labyrinth, and seek it!

Samhain Druid Meditations – ICon Convention

Published by Scott under Calendar

On Saturday, October 24, I will be giving a presentation at the ICon Science Fiction Convention in Cedar Rapids, IA, entitled “Samhain Druid Meditations.”

Samhain-LadyThis session is free for ICon participants (you need a participant badge), and takes place at 2pm in the Chestnut Room of the Cedar Rapids Marriot Hotel.

Learn about the Druidic History of Samhain, the “day between” where the veils between the spirit realm and the waking realm are extremely thin. It is the time of harvest, and the time when the dead, the faerie folk, the Sidhe, and spirits of Nature run amok.

In our Druid Mediation we will walk Labyrinths and give offerings to the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water – to pre-create and precipitate changes and manifestations to come in the coming months before Yule.

Northern Druid Podcast

Published by Scott under News

Northern Druid PodcastThe premier episode of the Northern Druid podcast will be available Sunday, October 18! My goal is to have bi-weekly podcast episodes which will feature the following:

  • Information, talk, and resource sharing about Druidry and holistic healing
  • News and events from the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Lake Superior bioregion
  • Observations and reflections about Nature, the Lake, the Waters, Woods, Prairies, and People of the Northland
  • Music from local musicians
  • A “meditation of the moment” to close each podcast
  • And much much more… the lid is off!

My ultimate goal with the upcoming podcast is to do nothing less than have listeners fall in love with Minnesota, the North Shore, and the natural environment of this very magical place. This follows the basic tennant of Reformed Druids, which I follow:

“Nature is good. Likewise, Nature is very good!”

newmoonSunday, October 18 marks the time of the New Moon, and I’ll be talking about the book, New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True, by Jan Spiller. We’ll even take some time in the meditation to make some wishes under the new moon!

Hope to have you listening! More information on subscribing via iTunes and other methods will be forthcoming!

Hiking along the North Shore

Published by Scott under Memories and Moments

Waves on the Rocks I had a wonderful Sunday hiking a few places on the North Shore of Lake Superior with my friends Jeff and Marguerite. They showed me some excellent spots where they spent their first date many years ago at Gooseberry Falls State Park and Sugarloaf Cove.

After hiking, we continued northward to stop in Grand Marais for dinner at Dockside Fish Market. They have wonderful fish & chips at very affordable prices!

We also brought the incredible Junebug along for the adventure, and she was a tired yet very happy dog by the end of the journey.

To see all of the photos from our hiking excursion, visit my Minnesota North Shore Hiking photo album.
