Vocal Performance

My “first love” while I was growing up was always music and singing.

Since these beginnings, I’ve continued studying voice, and performing/singing whenever possible.  I am a classically trained Tenor with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.  I love to sing anything from Mozart to Broadway, Pop to Jazz, and have a deep love for English art song repertoire and Celtic music.

My most recent “favorite performance” was with The Duluth Playhouse production of The Secret Garden. I played Captain Albert Lenox – Mary Lenox’s father, who appears often in her dreams and visions as a supportive “adviser and ghost.”  Much of the show focuses on themes of forgiveness, reconciliation, healing, and the metaphor of a “Garden” where we seek wisdom and self-nurturance.  Tapping into my “Druid Ideals” helped immensely with every performance in this role.

I take on the occasional gig in special seasonal choirs (I love to sing the John Rutter Requiem!), musical theatre roles, and solo singing for weddings, handfastings, funerals, and Unitarian/Universalist church services.

If you are in the Twin Cities metro area, and are looking for a Tenor for a special event, seasonal choir, or performance, feel free to contact me!

Vocal Range:  Tenor
Styles:  Celtic, Classical, Pop, Jazz, Broadway/Musical Theatre

NOTE: I am willing to perform as either a soloist or choir member for a special program (I am not available for yearly or ongoing choirs)  for organizations, churches, or religious congregations, so long as they have a statement of inclusion, acceptance, or non-discrimination for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered persons.  (I will ask you!)

Enjoy some YouTube videos of me singing!

Gravity by Sara Barielles

My cover of this great song.  For me, I’m singing this song to my own personal Ego Self, which I must learn to both reduce it’s hold on me, and dance with it.

Humming Bird

A song from the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary in Minneapolis. Our “chorus of pollenators” is comprised of myself and other In the Heart of the Beast theatre volunteers.

A Whole New World

A Duet with a total stranger on YouTube! I love how the internet and social media allows us to have real experiences like this with others whom we may never meet face to face.

On My Own from Les Miserables

My version of this song, sung to my partner, Michael. Dedicated to anyone who feels as if they need to live with a secret about the person they love.
